Our passion is to empower women to optimally prepare for a positive birth experience through education and continuous support. We assist our clients in discovering and embracing their inner strength and confident beauty throughout their birth experience. We respect each client and birth experience as unique and individual and will tailor our care to meet the needs and desires at hand.
Birth Doulas of Michiana was founded in response to a concern over the rate of doula burnout and the need to guarantee continuous support to a larger number of local clients.
We realize that one doula cannot do it all, and great strength, growth, and support comes when we join together rather than going it alone!
Choosing Birth Doulas of Michiana ensures that you will receive a high level continuity of care from a team of highly experienced, compassionate doulas. You will never be stuck with a doula who is overly exhausted or "needs to leave." You don't have to worry about a doula not being available to support you.

Our clients hire us individually and we provide continuous prenatal support , but we share an on-call schedule for supporting our clients in labor and birth.
Our Process
As doulas, we have committed to common values and provide consistent support across the board. Each doula may have a different personality or slightly different spin on her care, but we maintain a high level of continuing education in providing the best holistic education and support to help you achieve your ideal birth!
You get to choose your primary doula and hire them independently. Your doula will meet with you twice throughout your pregnancy to help you prepare for birth and be a continuous resource throughout pregnancy to help you navigate the system and educate you on options offering referrals when necessary.
We routinely host "Meet the Doula" events where you can meet and get to know the other doulas who are on call around the time of your birth.
The benefits of working as a partnership allows us as doulas to maintain healthy boundaries over our needs as individuals and with our respective families. We are then able to offer a high quality of care to our clients guaranteeing they will receive a fresh doula at their birth who can be fully present and offer the support they need to achieve a positive and beautiful birth experience.

Child Birthing Classes
Before hiring any of our doulas, we require all expecting mothers to go through a child birthing class to better prepare them for the services we offer. Below is a list of approved local or online birth classes you might choose to attend. Any one of these classes fulfill the required Childbirth Class to qualify for our doula services.
